United States vs. Mexico 2011 Gold Cup Final Free Prediction & Pick for June 25th, 2011
The two 2011 Gold Cup semi-final match-ups were two exceptional games. Game 1 featured the United States vs. a Panama team who had already beaten them 2-1 in this Gold Cup. The game was close throughout with the United States getting a few solid chances, and Panama doing the same. Until the 77th minute it was deadlocked at 0-0 when Freddy Adu played a beautiful long ball to Landon Donovan who played one of the best passes that I’ve personally ever seen, to Clint Dempsey who put it in the back of the net for a 1-0 US lead. The United States held on to that lead and took down Panama 1-0 to move on. The 2nd game featured an impressive Mexico team against an underdog team in Honduras. Honduras did not disappoint though, as they fought tough against Mexico and pushed the game into overtime. Mexico took over in the overtime period though, and scored twice in the first 15 minutes, and held on to win 2-0 against an exhausted Honduras squad.
This set up the game that everyone in the United States and Mexico were both hoping for. A huge finals match-up in the Gold Cup of USA vs. Mexico. Both teams have been up and down in this tournament, and are huge rivals in CONCACAF. The game is set for Saturday, June 25th at 9:00pm ET.

What a game this sets up. Mexico is a slight favorite early, but as you can tell by the odds; they are expecting a close game. I think the tie here is a pretty solid bet. Both teams are going to come out strong and it will be a tight game throughout. I see a tie going late into the game, and one team winning it in one of the two 15 minute overtime periods.
Prediction: Tie 1-1 with United States winning in overtime 2-1

Regardless of which bet you make on this game, you’re going to get good odds on either team, or the tie. I think the tie is very likely, as this rivalry brings the best out of both teams, and should answer some questions about both teams as well. I’m picking the tie here.
Pick: Tie at +210
