PPA Announces Fundraising Money Bomb on July 1st
The PPA (Poker Players Alliance) have announced they will be holding a fundraising “money bomb” on July 1st to raise additional funds to aid their fight to licence and regulate online poker.
If you are unfamiliar with the PPA, they are a group of over one million members who are all fighting to make online poker legal in the US. The group is supported by a host of famous poker pros, including Chris Ferguson and Howard Lederer.
The groups fundraiser is in aid of the upcoming vote this summer on the gambling legislation. If you are unfamiliar with a money bomb, it is a specific day which a group or organisation chooses, in which it asks all of its members to donate any sum of money to them. The PPA has asked all members to donate this money on the 1st July 2010, and they hope to receive $25,000.
The chairman of the PPA, Alfonse D’Amato, said “This unique fundraising effort is another way for our members and all players to demonstrate to lawmakers the broad support for online poker, while at the same time helping PPA continues its advocacy efforts.” He also remarked a lot of work needed to be done “to assure that every American has the right to enjoy a game of poker from their computer, in a casino or at their kitchen table,”.
This should be something every American poker player takes note of, as a group of proud player’s are about to fight for your right to be able to do what you love legally. They are fighting to lift the current ban on excluded poker sites, and all they ask from you is a donation of any amount.
